The Opportunity
One of our manufacturing clients is growing their purchasing team and looking to bring on a Buyer I. This person will play a key role in a larger buying group, sourcing specific materials and supplies within the company's established guidelines. It's an independent, accountable role — but our client is most interested in someone hungry to learn how procurement fits into the bigger picture of the business.

Supplier & Vendor Management

• Identify, develop, and maintain qualified suppliers for assigned product categories.
• Continuously assess supplier value and market pricing to keep costs competitive.
• Support contract and pricing negotiations; help track supplier performance and drive corrective action when standards aren't met.
• Resolve vendor and parts-related issues as they come up, expediting orders when timelines are tight.

Purchasing & Inventory Operations

• Place purchase orders and communicate forecasts to suppliers in a timely, accurate way.
• Buy materials aligned with inventory targets, adjusting quickly as production or customer demand shifts.
• Keep the purchase order/MRP system accurate and up to date.
• Reconcile invoices and resolve receiving discrepancies promptly.
• Account for purchasing impacts when engineering changes come through.

Collaboration & Communication

• Partner regularly with Engineering, Quality, Accounts Payable, Supply Chain, Transportation, Receiving, Production, Customer Service, Demand Planning, and other internal teams.
• Clearly communicate purchasing policies and procedures to staff, departments, and suppliers alike.
• Take on additional responsibilities as business needs evolve.

Ideal Background

• 3–5 years of relevant experience in purchasing or procurement
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field
• APICS certification is a nice-to-have, not required
• Comfortable working independently, but equally effective as part of a team
• Sharp attention to detail, strong multitasking, and comfort with deadlines
• Analytical mindset with solid problem-solving instincts
• Clear communicator, both written and verbal
• Skilled at building relationships across internal teams and with external suppliers
• Exposure to ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office is a plus
• A real interest in building a long-term career in purchasing and supply chain

Work Setting
This role is based in a hands-on manufacturing facility. Expect occasional exposure to moving equipment, elevated work areas, airborne particles, and industrial chemicals, with generally moderate noise levels.

Safety Expectations
All team members are expected to follow safety protocols, wear appropriate protective gear, complete required training, and flag any hazards or concerns to a supervisor.

Pay
$65,000–$70,000, depending on experience.
